This course takes the guesswork out of applying composite shoes and goes through the complete application process step by step with text and pictures as well as video how to guides.
We will start by discussing what situations I find composite shoes helpful, which shoes and supplies I find the most effective for the horse, as well as which shoes are user friendly for application. We will cover a list of supplies and equipment needed to make your application successful, and how to trim the hoof to function appropriately within the confines of the composite shoe.
This course will also cover basic modifications to the shoe, including setting breakover, using wedges, hoof packing such as DIM (dental impression material), and how to plastic weld the 11 Finger Tabs onto the Versa Grip Light Shoe. I will also touch on a couple of other Easyshoe models that I like to use with the 11 Finger Tabs in certain situations.
Removal of the shoes and the ability to reset them will be discussed as well as the preparation for reset of the shoe and the resetting process.
This course will take you through three full length applications of the shoes, including: shoe modifications, wedges, stud application for more traction, hoof packing (DIM) with mesh and antifungal preventative.
